On Sunday, July 28, at 4:50 p.m., the victim responded to a post on Facebook Marketplace about buying a PlayStation video game console, Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé said.
When the victim met the suspect on the 300 block of Morris Avenue, the suspect pulled out a knife and tried to cut him, Fragé said. The victim grabbed the suspect’s arm and wrestled with him until the suspect snatched the victim’s wallet from his pocket, Fragé said.. The suspect ran southbound on Morris Avenue, Fragé said.
Tahib Whiteside is wanted by police for questioning, Fragé said. Police did not say what Whiteside's involvement in the robbery was. Anyone with information is asked to contact 1-877-695-8477.
